KIDA Block Program
The KIDA Block Program is a 90 minute, fun-filled social group program for children between the ages of 5 and 7 who have Autism Spectrum Disorder, or who have difficulty interacting socially with peers. The Block curriculum has been created to address social and play skills with children in small groups (typically 4 to 5 children). Designed and led by a speech-language pathologist and occupational therapist, the Block employs an interdisciplinary co-treatment model that will facilitate the acquisition, development, and application of social skills and play skills in a group setting amongst peers.
In this structured Block, all activities are implemented in a naturalistic social setting, are pre-planned and guided, and relate to a thematic scheme, i.e. transportation, animals, etc. The purpose of the program is to teach children to play by eliciting natural opportunities for social interactions using a variety of media and activities in a fun atmosphere. The ultimate goal of the program is to enable children to generalize these skills across all settings. ...Top
Adolescent Social Group and Community-Based Coaching
This program is geared towards junior high school and early high school age young adults in grades 6 through 9 who will benefit from building social and life skills, and who have difficulty developing friendships with peers. Prior to enrolling in the group, needs may be assessed individually during a meeting with a KIDA staff member, the adolescent, and the adolescent’s parent(s). Depending upon the adolescent’s readiness, and the expressed desire of the parent(s), he or she will then begin the Adolescent Social Group and Community Based Coaching, or may first need or desire some individually focused Community Coaching sessions.
In Community Coaching, a KIDA professional works with the adolescent in a community-based, social activity (i.e., dinner at a restaurant, participation in a sports activity or religious ceremony, etc.) on specific goals related to the social aspects of the activity. The activity and the goals are pre-determined by the therapist and the parent(s) in the initial meeting. Community Coaching sessions may continue indefinitely, or may be a prerequisite to entry into the Adolescent Social Group and Community Based Coaching.
In the Adolescent Social Group and Community Based Coaching, children participate in fun and engaging activities in 90 minute, once weekly session. These sessions are mostly at the KIDA facility, with occasional off-site excursions in the community. The curriculum has been designed to be highly relevant to this age group’s social and developmental standards and needs, and incorporates technology, media, and plenty of exciting, “hands-on” activities to elicit natural opportunities for social interactions. These small groups of 4 to 6 children are led by highly qualified and experienced speech pathologists. ...Top

Baby Booster
KIDA’s Baby Booster is the “Ultimate Mommy and Me Program” for infants ages 0 to 18 months and their parents! Our sophisticated Baby Booster goes above and beyond traditional “Mommy and Me” programs by providing a thorough and professional, yet easy-to-understand, overview of a child’s development with expert instruction and attention given by speech language and occupational therapists. In addition, because our groups are intentionally small, parents will receive individual care and guidance throughout the course. Created and led by a nationally renowned speech language pathologist with extensive and focused experience with this age group, parents will attend once-weekly, 90 minute sessions for the duration of 7 weeks. An additional ‘family’ session is included after the series of courses is completed to pass along information to other family members. Afterwards, parents receive the course manual as a reference guide for the wealth of knowledge acquired over the length of the course, as well as a formal and detailed report completed by the speech language pathologist and occupational therapist. ...Top
